What is Restylane?

Restylane is a popular hyaluronic filler that is firm and moldable, with a similar consistency to jelly. Its pliability makes it a hit with cosmetic surgeons because they can easily manipulate the filler to achieve the desired results. Another bonus of using Restylane and other hyaluronic fillers is that they are reversible. If a patient experiences complications or is dissatisfied with the results, an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler. After the Restylane is dissolved, the body naturally metabolizes the particles. Restylane has been used for over 20 years. One of the first cosmetic hyaluronic fillers around, Restylane has stayed competitive by continuing to deliver beautiful, natural-looking results, and diversifying. Dr. Miller uses the full suite of Restylane fillers described below.

Reliable and natural-looking results

Restylane continues to be an in-demand filler because it consistently produces natural-looking results. When used to smoothen wrinkles, patients can expect to look younger and well-rested. Restylane for the lips will volumize and improve the shape of the lip. For the mid-face-specific fillers, patients will regain a youthful plumpness and contour to their cheeks that will shave years off their look.

Restylane

The original version of the filler, Restylane has been used for decades to correct nasolabial folds, add volume to the cheeks and facial depressions, and correct mild to severe facial wrinkles. The versatile filler has also been used for lip enhancement.

Restylane Silk

Perfect for adding volume and definition to the lips, Restylane Silk is a smoother version of Restylane with smaller particles, making it easier to make subtle manipulations. Restylane Silk was the first FDA-approved filler for lips and perioral lines, or the fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Restylane Silk lasts for around 6 months.

Restylane Kysse

Also specially designed for the lips and perioral lines, Restylane Kysse is a little bit firmer than Restylane Silk, and lasts for up to a year. It smoothes wrinkles around the mouth and adds volume to the lips just like Restylane Silk.

Restylane Refyne

A versatile version of Restylane, Restylane Refyne addresses mild to moderate facial wrinkles and folds, and treats smile lines and nasolabial lines. Its hallmark is a refreshed, natural look. Results last up to a year.

Restylane Defyne

Restylane Defyne is for correcting deep facial wrinkles and folds, and is often used in chin augmentations, helping to achieve a defined, elegant chin profile. This type of Restylane has larger gel particles and lasts up to a year.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft works most effectively in the mid-face. It is designed for cheek augmentation, correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, and contouring. Restylane Lyft is also used to add volume to the back of the hands, and has a tremendous rejuvenating effect that lasts for up to six months. When Restylane Lyft is used on the face, results last for up to a year.

Restylane Contour

Like Restylane Lyft, Restylane Contour is optimal for the mid-face. It has an impressive capacity to lift the area, and is effective in cheek augmentations and contouring. It can also restore a youthful plumpness to the mid-face.

Quick application

A Restylane treatment is a safe, non-surgical procedure that takes less than 30 minutes. Even better, there is no downtime necessary after a session. Before performing the injections, Dr. Miller will ensure the patient is completely comfortable and mark the target areas. Then, he uses a very fine needle to inject the product. Some patients experience a burning sensation, but for most, it is a pain-free procedure.

No downtime

Restylane is minimally invasive and does not require recovery time. However patients are advised to avoid vigorous physical activity for at least 24 hours, and to avoid sleeping on the parts of the face that were treated. Mild swelling and bruising sometimes occur, but this subsides within a few days. Patients should also take care to avoid saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, or any extreme heat for 1-2 days, as this will negatively affect the filler.
