The mid-forehead brow lift is a softer version of the coronal brow lift and also used to correct heavy brows. The incision is made in existing creases of the forehead. From there, the eyebrows are carefully repositioned and excess skin is removed.
In a coronal brow lift, an incision is made several inches behind the hairline and is typically longer than incisions in other types of brow lifts. The coronal brow lift is utilized to reposition the eyebrows for a revitalized, attentive look. A coronal brow lift is an extensive correction used primarily for patients with very heavy brows.
Pretrichial brow lift, or subcutaneous brow lift, involves making an incision in front of the hairline along the forehead to lift the brows into a more desirable position. Since the incision for this type of brow lift is closer to the brow area than other techniques, it can provide an optimal lift while rejuvenating the eye area. The pretrichial brow lift is ideal for patients with large foreheads or high hairlines.
This type of brow lift is minimally invasive and performed with an endoscope, a small tube with a light and a camera attached. Small incisions are made on the scalp instead of near the hairline. The endoscope is inserted through the incisions, and the surgeon uses a monitor to see the area and delicately reposition the brow muscles. This procedure results in minimal scarring and reduces the risk of nerve damage that comes with a traditional brow lift. Recovery time is about a week, which is shorter than the typical brow lift.
A lateral brow lift, sometimes called a temporal or mini brow lift, addresses the drooping outer corners of the brow. Incisions are minimal and the procedure can be done using only local anesthesia. This lift does not affect the center of the forehead or entire brow, just the outer arches of the brow. Because of this, there is no risk of a "surprised look". This procedure is also suitable for those who would like a classic arched brow, regardless of age. The lateral brow lift corrects crow's feet, reduces wrinkling in the brow and forehead, and has a subtle lifting effect on the cheeks.
After a brow lift, swelling and bruising are normal and should subside within one to two weeks. Most patients can return to desk work and light socializing within ten to fourteen days.
